Kluber Architects + Engineers designed a 16,800-square foot addition to Batavia’s existing eastside fire station. Like the westside station, special care was taken to maintain the residential character of the station’s location. The addition was also positioned so it would not undermine the existing foundation systems.

The eastside fire station addition consisted of administration and living quarters, as well as an Emergency Operations Center training facility. A new public lobby with controlled access to the remainder of the building was added to the first floor. Offices, conference rooms and work rooms are also located on this level. An apparatus bay was added to accommodate a proposed new, longer ladder truck. Along with the new bay, a vehicle maintenance room was included in the designs to remove equipment from the apparatus floor.

The second floor has private bunk rooms, a day room with an oudivoor deck, dining room, and kitchen. Two separate locker room facilities were designed to share a private shower and changing room space for a more cost-effective use of space.

The additions to the eastside fire station allowed the Batavia Fire Department to be better equipped to serve the growing needs of the community.
