Project Details

In 2022, DuPage County hired Kluber Architects + Engineers to complete a series of improvements in six different mechanical rooms. Improvements consisted of both heating and ventilation system replacements.

The ventilation system improvements included design for custom air handling unit replacements, two of which include energy recovery wheels, three modular air handling units, the addition of ultra violet lights and increased filtrations to all new air handling units. New steam humidifiers and associated condensate receivers were replaced with the air handling units.

The heating improvements consisted of the replacement of a high temperature hot water heat exchanger along with eight base mounted building pumps and associated control valves. Four of the new pumps incorporated variable frequency drives to increase overall energy efficiency of the system.

In each mechanical room, the pneumatic controls were removed and all new equipment was tied to a direct-digital control system.

For this project, our team prepared the construction documents for the purpose of bidding and permitting. The Kluber team is also doing construction administration for them.
