Kluber Architects + Engineers completed a full interior renovation, including demolition, of the Health and Business Technology Center’s east wing. Kluber renovated a light industrial manufacturing building on the Elgin Community College campus into a new state-of-the-art chemistry facility.

Kluber worked with campus faculty to develop the concept for the new facility within the constraints of the existing building shell.

The various project components included:

  • A new organic chemistry lab
  • Physics lab
  • Geology lab
  • General classrooms, as well as new faculty offices and student lounge spaces.

The mechanical and plumbing engineering design for the project was critical in order to coordinate chemical fume hood exhaust with the general HVAC system, along with the required plumbing systems for the laboratories.
