Industry Training Center
Elgin, Illinois
Kluber Architects + Engineers was tasked with converting a dark warehouse into an airy multipurpose college building that could harmoniously house both industrial training classrooms and college administrative offices.
Kluber achieved this goal by incorporating the building’s industrial characteristics into an open design. Structural and mechanical features remain exposed, underlining the building’s new use as a home for the college’s industrial maintenance technology labs and general classrooms. The hub of the building, a sky-lighted central lobby, offers two distinct seating areas, while also acting as a bridge between the classrooms and a west wing administrative office area.
