Kendall County Courthouse
Yorkville, Illinois
Kendall County’s courthouse was 10 years old and in need of additional space to keep pace with the county’s rapid growth. Kluber Architects + Engineers were able to address the county’s needs by designing an addition and performing interior renovations to the existing courthouse.
The 115,479-square-foot addition featured three new courtrooms, an updated security-controlled main lobby, centralized records storage and new offices. The main entrance was converted into a public break room, while other existing spaces were adapted to serve as a jury commission room and law library.
Efficiency and flexibility were two key driving factors of the design of the new courthouse. This was a response to the challenge of accommodating rapid growth while keeping each justice element intact as the courthouse expands with the county. The addition has allowed all justice-related operations to function at peak efficiency while addressing their future expansion needs.
