Kluber Architects + Engineers Batavia Office – 10 S. Shumway Ave.
In 2010, Kluber Architects + Engineers began developing a plan to restore an opera house from the 1880s to serve as the company office. The project uniquely positioned Kluber as both the client and the design firm.
The goal was to reflect the firm’s integrated project approach into a work environment that supported multiple disciplines working side-by-side. The result was an office design that situates architects, engineers, and other staff in open and semi-private work spaces that encourage collaboration and camaraderie. Common spaces include conference rooms and a kitchenette. The renovation also consisted of removing all existing interior partitions, portions of the second floor structure to allow for loft space, and the entire roof.
Located in historic downtown Batavia on the banks of the Fox River, the Kluber Architects + Engineers’ former office was the first building in the downtown area to receive Energy Star certification. Not to mention, the renovation and investment brought to life an area of the city that was previously in great distress.
