Project Details

Motorola was faced with the challenge of consolidating the workforce at their Arlington Heights, Illinois campus into less space, while improving the general work environment for its employees. Kluber Architects + Engineers’ efforts focused on optimizing the existing office floor plan to utilize space.

A primary goal was to shift the building’s focus from inward to outward and consequently improve the general work environment for Motorola’s employees. Drab interior corridors were replaced with wide, bright and colorful spaces. This allowed for daylight to penetrate further into the building from its perimeter windows and provided employees with expansive views of the outside from most points throughout the building.

The 153,000-square-foot renovation also included a new executive conference room, with a corner location on the third floor that allowed for ample natural lighting. Sun-control shades were added, along with an environmental lighting control system to afforded occupants complete flexibility over light levels.

An open office approach was designed to encourage collaboration among employees. Open cubicles and team meeting areas were interspersed throughout each floor, all of which were designed to be comfortable and welcoming.
