Project Details

Naval Station Great Lakes was experiencing growth and needed updates to its aging facilities. The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense conducted a joint venture design-build competition to find a firm that could design a new parking garage to serve staff and visitors at the newly expanded VA hospital on the base.

Kluber Architects + Engineers partnered with design-build contractor JJ Henderson, Gewalt Hamilton, and Spancrete to complete the winning four-level structure. The structure was designed with a precast system that not only saved the owner time and money, but also allowed for future additions. The parking garage has a capacity of 560 cars and is 55,000-square-feet per level.
