Oakton College – Generator Replacement
In 2023, Oakton College hired the Kluber team to assist with a generator replacement at their Skokie campus. This ongoing project involves the removal and replacement of an existing 150kW diesel emergency generator, located on grade near the boiler plant on the north side of the main facility. The generator serves life safety and emergency systems distributed through the building’s main electrical room, located in the basement.
The connected emergency load is approximately 110 kVA and includes a 120-volt emergency panel, emergency lighting, one elevator, a sewage ejector, a sump pump, the central boiler, and a fire pump. While the current operational load is relatively low, the replacement generator is being designed to meet both existing and anticipated future demand, with appropriate load balancing and code-compliant power distribution.
