Oakton College – Electrical Switchgear Replacement
In 2018, Oakton College upgraded its existing electrical main service switchgear at its Des Plaines Campus.
Kluber provided electrical engineering design services to replace sections and overcurrent protection devices within the campus’ main service switchgear. These upgrades gave the campus increased power reliability and eliminated obsolete system components.
This project’s design included:
- Preventative maintenance of switchgear bussing and connections.
- The reconfiguration of the internal campus emergency electrical distribution premises wiring to segregate egress and exit lighting systems
- Improvements to the building grounding electrode systems
- Implementation of an electrical workplace safety labeling system.
Kluber also worked with the Contractor during construction on a phased approach to installation, allowing for minimal interruption of the campus’ access to power throughout the construction process.
