Adaptive Reuse of the Old Copley Hospital Campus

Aurora, Illinois

Kluber is part of the development team to redevelop the former Copley Hospital campus in Aurora. Closed since 1995, the facility has deteriorated from years of being vacant and as a target for vandalism. When completed, the project will be a catalyst for community revitalization on the southeast side of Aurora. The campus has recently been listed on the National Historic Register with the intent to fully restore the building exterior and select areas within the interior of the multiple structures. The design planning for the project is being done in collaboration with the many project stakeholders including the City of Aurora, the neighborhood, and the local park district.

The 9 acre campus master plan will include:

• 120 unit senior living community
• 53 unit independent living community for adults with developmental disabilities
• Medical facility (urgent care, physical therapy, imaging, labs, surgery center)
• Local school district administrative center
• 2 acre community park
