After designing four new prototype junior high schools for Oswego Community Unit School District 308, Kluber Architects + Engineers were tasked with renovating and designing an addition to the older Thompson Junior High School. The goal of the project was to provide functional equality between all of the District’s junior high schools.

Specific project highlights included a building reconfiguration for better support of students, a new learning resource center, updated science classrooms, additional office space in the administrative area, as well as updated interior finishes throughout school.

Life safety issues were also identified and addressed as part of the renovation. The completed project expanded and rejuvenated the school with an enrollment capacity of 900 students and the flexibility to accommodate an additional 1,125 students.
